Arcine Studio shapes an ambitious commercial tower, seamlessly integrating a dynamic kinetic facade system with luminous curtain wall expanses and a meticulously curated tropical landscape that grounds the soaring structure within the vibrant pulse of its Ethiopian context. PROJECT CONCEPT
Arcine Studio unveils a captivating high-rise facade intervention that redefines the urban skyline of Addis Ababa, presenting a monumental elevation wrapped in an intricate lattice of rotating diamond-shaped modules that cascade across the building’s full height, creating an evershifting interplay of light, shadow, and transparency that responds to the gentle rhythms of the climate and the tranquil embrace of the surrounding streetscape.
The kinetic screen, composed of thousands of individually articulated panels arranged in a sweeping parametric gradient, transitions from dense opacity at the upper volumes to an ethereal openness at the building’s midsection, where bridging sky-corridors punctuate the elevation and generous recessed terraces invite the warm Ethiopian breeze inward, cultivating a facade that breathes, adapts, and performs as a living architectural organism rather than a static enclosure.
At the ground plane, our design orchestrates an inviting public area where towering palms, layered tropical plantings, and shaded colonnades extend the building’s presence into a generous pedestrian landscape, blending the sleek commercial threshold with verdant gathering spaces that foster community interaction, ensuring that the ambitious verticality above remains rooted in an accessible, human-scaled experience below.
